Sean Gallagher of Ars Technica wrote a great article on “why thin client desktops must die.” I like how he explains the obvious implication of such devices; that management who purchases these see their employees as incapable (or on the same standing as “enemies”).
I think it’s rather dehumanizing to see someone as unworthy of computing. Thin clients as a primary workstation are something we should move away from. The new marketing term “cloud client” also exemplifies the disconnect from corporate thought processes and the realities of human work.
